Welcome to our selection of works by Edward Hopper(1882-1967)
Edward Hopper was an American painter and engraver. He mainly practiced his art in
New York, where he had his studio. He is considered one of the representatives of naturalism or the American scene, because he painted the daily life
of the middle classes. At the beginning of his career, he represented Parisian scenes before
dedicating himself to American landscapes and becoming an
attentive witness to social changes in the United States. He produced many oil on canvas paintings,
but also worked on posters, etchings and watercolors. Much of Hopper's work expresses a nostalgia
for a past America, as well as the conflict between nature and the modern world. His characters are
most often lonely and melancholic.
