Welcome to our selection of works by Gustav Klimt(1862-1918)
Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members
of the Vienna Art Nouveau movement. The years 1902-1903
marked a turning point in Klimt's work, and a period of intense creativity. He began his "Golden
Cycle" with the Water Serpents, the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer and Danaë. In 1904, a wealthy Belgian banker,
Adolphe Stoclet, commissioned him to create the wall mosaics for the dining room of a luxurious
palace he was building in Brussels based on architect Hoffman's plans. Klimt's decorative richness
burst forth in Expectation and Fulfillment, which he created for Adolphe Stoclet. The painting The Kiss, which is the most representative
painting of Gustav Klimt's genius and which he painted in 1906, would be reproduced in the theme of
Fulfillment for Adolphe Stoclet's fresco.
