Pointillism with the custom oil paintings of Georges Seurat

Coming from the Parisian bourgeoisie, Georges Pierre Seurat trained briefly at the School of Fine Arts before turning to the scientific study of colors. This methodical researcher of French nationality evolved at the end of the nineteenth century, a period of profound optical and chromatic upheavals. He founded the neo-impressionist movement, establishing rigorous theoretical principles applied to visual creation.

The monumental aspect of his approach is also expressed in “Bathing at Asnieres”. Later, artificial lighting and nocturnal dynamism animate complex works like “Circus Sideshow” and “Chahut”.

His optical research and divisionist method mark a decisive turning point in the history of pictorial modernity. The theories he develops pave the way for numerous avant-gardes, durably influencing subsequent cubist and fauvist movements.
