His works are imbued with an admirable sense of poetry and truth, making him the best landscape painter of the English school. Already considered a master of the genre in his time, Joseph Mallord William Turner became famous for his magnificent English landscapes and sold many works for high prices. Initially from the English Romantic vein, his work is marked by audacious innovative research that makes the one nicknamed the "painter of light" a precursor of Impressionism, along with his contemporary John Constable.
