Butterflies (Léger)

“Butterflies” is a cheerful abstract composition by Fernand Léger. This work, typical of his late period, combines mechanical and organic elements in a ballet of bright colors. Against a pure white background, Léger arranges dynamic, curved shapes in different colors—red, blue, yellow, teal—that intertwine with bold black forms.
