This work, “Contrast of Forms 2”, is another exploration from Léger’s series on pure abstraction. Created with charcoal and gouache, it shows a dense composition of geometric forms—cones, triangles, planes—in dynamic conflict. The colors (red, blue, yellow, green) are used in touches to accentuate rhythm and depth, but it is the contrast between the white paper and the thick black lines that dominates. It is a study of tension and movement, a pillar of modern abstraction.
