Divers (Léger)

“Divers” is a work from Fernand Léger’s “Divers” series, a theme he explored extensively. This version shows a stylized diver figure, reduced to a set of thick, dynamic black lines. The body is fragmented and in motion, hands raised, capturing the moment of falling or swimming. Léger completely dissociates color from drawing: blocks of pure primary colors—red, yellow, blue—and green are placed on the white background, interacting with the black lines without ever filling them. This white space creates a sensation of light and air. The work is a visual sensation of the body in motion, a celebration of freedom and physical energy.
