Fishing Boats - Collioure by André Derain

In the height of his Fauve period, Derain André delivered a striking interpretation of harbor activity with his canvas titled “Fishing Boats - Collioure”. This ambitious composition reflects the artist’s desire to structure the pictorial space solely through the strength of color and the geometry of forms. The water of the basin blends shades of emerald green and blue, reflecting the complex structure of the vessels and the changing light of the end of the day.
