Entitled “The School of Disney”, this painting spectacularly parodies Raphael’s famous fresco. The artist successfully replaces the solemn, ancient assembly of philosophers with a magical and colorful gathering of legendary Disney characters. This massive group portrait breathes new life into the historic composition through comedic imagination.

The classical temple of knowledge and its majestic Roman arches are preserved, but the Greek scholars have yielded their place. In the center, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck embody Plato and Aristotle, draped in ancient togas. Around them, we discover Goofy as a Greek philosopher, Ariel the mermaid lying on the marble steps, and Peter Pan writing on a chest. The Seven Dwarfs are grouped on the bottom right, looking closely at a slate. Numerous other figures like Daisy Duck and Scrooge McDuck complete this scene. The grand architecture integrates fun details like Mickey-shaped ornaments. Each character is carefully placed to match the spatial logic of the original masterpiece.

The painter’s work is impressive in its rigorous management of Raphael’s linear perspective. The mastery of oil painting makes it possible to unify a multitude of colorful characters within a coherent architectural space, demonstrating remarkable technique and a great sense of narrative composition.
