Pho Xai by Jean-Léon Gérôme

A wide, rigid, and gilded pectoral necklace, inlaid with precious stones, surrounds his neck and falls onto his chest. The background is a plain and neutral light cream color, which beautifully detaches the child’s luminous silhouette. A discreet calligraphic inscription appears at the top right.
