The Billiard Room at Ménil-Hubert by Degas

Late-century bourgeois interiors constituted a fascinating subject of study for the realist painter Degas Edgar. His canvas titled “The Billiard Room at Ménil-Hubert” depicts an empty and silent billiard room, bathed in a quiet, melancholy atmosphere. Far from the bustle of cafés or the Opéra, the artist explores the poetry of empty spaces and the geometry of closed rooms in Parisian life, offering an intimate reflection on human absence and the passage of time.
