This “Creation of the World 2” is another study by Fernand Léger for the ballet. It presents a similar composition of totemic figures and stylized animals, reminiscent of African art. A horned figure stands to the right. Léger uses a powerful graphic language, with large flat areas of black defining the silhouettes against backgrounds of bright blue, red, and ochre. The yellow sun and stylized clouds add to the mythical atmosphere. It is a modern, mechanical vision of an origin myth.
