The Oval Office by Roy Lichtenstein

This masterly work offers a fascinating reinterpretation of a high place of world political power by applying the aesthetic codes of Pop Art to it. To bring this highly symbolic space to life, the famous painter Roy Lichtenstein transposes official interior architecture into a refined graphic world. Through this striking interior view entitled “The Oval Office”, the author deconstructs state imagery to make it a stimulating reflection on the symbols of contemporary authority.

The symmetrical composition opens onto a dark wood presidential desk placed in the center of this famous oval room. Behind the desk, large drapes of a bright yellow frame three windows and bring intense light to the white space.
