Three Dancers Resting by Degas

Drawn on highly sober tinted paper, this powerful sketch by Degas Edgar, associated with the Impressionist movement, stands under the title of “Three Dancers Resting” within his ballet studies. To her left, a second dancer in profile stands, leaning towards the left of the image with folded arms across her chest. Behind them on the left, a third companion is depicted seated, with one leg raised high. The tulle tutus are sketched with broad touches of vibrant white chalk and blue pastel.
